Back in March of this year (2014).  I met up with drummer Patrick Ferguson of the Athens band Five Eight.  We talked about the Athens music scene, a zine he did, and a lot about Five Eight.  Sit back and listen to some rare tracks as well as some of the classics from a fans perspective.  This is Pt 1 of the series. 

Since the recording of this episode, The Weirdo Remix will be released on Chicken Ranch Records (Austin TX) in 2015. It will feature 5 previously un-released tracks and a mix that truly enhances and improves the sound of the original record. Look for it on vinyl and digitally.  Look for our Pt 2 with more info.

Here is a band's record from the NYHC scene (circa 1984).  The band is called RING OF FIRE and they RULE!  Who else sings a song about George "the Animal" Steele?  The record is called Common Enemy MLP and was origanly released on vinyl with only 100 copies pressed (wish I had one).  If you would like to download a copy it is availble on a blog called System//Sabotage//Chaos.

Do you like a good prank call?  Do you remember the time when one could make a prank phone call? If you do let's take a ride back to the mid-80's with this compilation cassette of prank phone calls from the legendary Mark Knoplfer, Pranks for the Memories, and The Pittsburgh Calls. We'll play some excerpts from a tape called OUT OF MIND (somewhere in space a all-star crank call compilation tape).  It is wise-ass humor in it's truest and rawest form.  It is also a great example of good old fashioned pre-internet underground tape trading.
